Former Top Prospects You Should Trade For In Dynasty
These former top prospects haven't broken out in the Majors, but could be under-the-radar dynasty trade targets (or under-the-radar sleepers in redraft leagues in 2025).
Regardless of where your dynasty team was in the standings in 2024, or where your dynasty team seems likely to be in the standings in 2025, finding long-term contributors is key.
Of course, potential impact prospects who look likely to step into significant roles in 2025 are ideal. So too are young players establishing themselves as impact real-life (and fantasy) players.
Naturally, with that in mind, finding under-the-radar potential long-term players for your fantasy team certainly doesn’t hurt. As acquiring a player who fits the bill either as a potential impact prospect or an ascending young player is much easier said than done.
One potential avenue that ticks both boxes – finding long-term contributors who are also under-the-radar acquisitions – is to consider former top prospects who’ve yet to fully establish themselves in the Majors.
Former top prospects who are still young with plenty of long-term potential, but may have seen their perceived dynasty trade value drop in the eyes of some.
These aren’t players where you should give up anything too significant for them in a trade, but they’re players who still have potentially considerable fantasy upside.
Among the four players we’ll look at today, include a pair of former first-overall picks. Two are hitters, two are pitchers. All four players are on teams that should be in the mix for a playoff spot next season (some more than others) and thus should be in a good spot to see decent pitcher win, RBI and run-scoring potential (fantasy counting/scoring stats that are less in a player’s control if the team around them isn’t as good.
